Owie!
I have major writers block. I haven't been able to write even a line in the past two weeks! This is bad. I'm insanely in love with my story and can't bare to stop writing it, but I just can't come up with anything good.
How do you all cure your writers block?

I try to think about my story, my characters, and the plot during random moments. Keep a note pad handy and take notes. Lots of notes. About anything that comes to your mind. If you imagine dialogues between your characters, write them down. If you come up with a new setting, jot it down.

When you feel motivated again, come back to your notes and keep what's good. Then discard the rest. It's not a cure for writer's block but it really helps.

I have over like....11 or more unfinished stories and I always get hounded for it. My family and friends always yell at me, to finish. But it's really hard when you have a freakkin' wall --not road block, but wall-- totally encasing(?) your mind. They don't know how hard it really is to write---well sometimes they do, but still.

You all must plan your stories out. You'll never finish it unless you know your ending. Plus, if you know where you want it to end, you can squeeze in that delicious foreshadowing so many authors use. It's a wonderful tool.

I refuse to go into a story not knowing where I want to take it. You never finish because you hit walls. Not planning your story out is the ONLY reason writer's block exists.

On ALL of my other stories that I have known the ending to I haven't been able to find the right paths to send my characters on so it all meets up in the end and turns out the way I want it. It makes me bored, because I already know what is going to happen.
I suppose, each writer to their own.

Ah, I have so much trouble with writer's block! I can never finish anything!

What I think works best is to remove the anxiety from the situation. If you're constantly judging yourself, you'll think anything you come up with is crap. First drafts, especially, always suck, so don't expect too much. Try loosening up the tension. Read it out loud in a silly voice. Write something else and then come back. Meditate. Drink tea. Write an outline. Do homework. Revise previous parts. Dance. Remind yourself you can always revise. Just chill out!

For example, I recently started a novel that was really stupid and cliche because I was sick of writing poetry and wanted something new. I didn't try to write the Great American Novel and just quickly hammered something out to keep myself entertained. Now, the story is growing on me and I think it might have real potential.

Good luck!!!

Just take it easy for some time and within a few days, you will have ideas forming. Also, think about life and trips you have been on. I haven't really started my first novel yet but last night, I was thinking about when I went to New York City and saw a Broadway show. It gave me some good ideas. One tip for when you write, never have a plot that is slightly changed for a movie you saw or a book you read.

Thanks you guys!
I'll try talking the dialogue in a goofy voice. xD
love2write - yeah thankfully there are a lot of good books out there that can put thoughts in my head. Sometimes all I need is one thing to spark and then I've got two chapters of my book done.

Aww thats not ALWAYS true! I hardly ever go into a story knowing the ending because then I am always trying to incorporate everything into the ending! The book I have on here I had NO idea where it was going when I was writing it I just sat down and the ideas just kind of flowed from my mind to my hands and into the keys! (As cheesy as that sounds thats what it serious was like.)

As for my pirate trilogy I know how thats going to end simply because it was a scene that popped into my head when I was in the shower one day and Ive spent the past 7 years trying to finish up to that point.

Ahem anyways (I like to ramble.) Writers block is a HUGE pain especially if you know what you want to do LOVE your characters and plot but just can't type out a sentence that works...

I like to listen to music for inspiration. Soundtracks to movies I havent seen seem to work best. Why? Because I can use them to paint pictures in my head without having watched the movie I dont have to worry about stealing their ideas!

Another thing sometimes it just has to wear off on its own, like a virus. :( Ive gone up to almost a year stuck before then suddenly WHAM it hit me and I couldnt pry myself off my computer for the life of me.

It's not always true, I agree with Rashnae07

sometimes you have to just let go and write, and let the characters develop themselves. sometimes you don't finish and hit walls because you have it all planned out, so you're constrained to that idea of "perfection" and get stuck in the box when there you may have to step out of that idea for the story to continue. I do it all the time when I'm interview people. I have to be prepared to expect the unexpected. You can have a set of questions, but then the interviewee may say something that stumps you or throws you for a curve, you have to be prepared and open minded to continue a story because you never know what's out there besides what they may tell you. Just like with characters in a story, they may take you only so far, but you have to listen to them and ask questions about everything to see if it'll take you further, or in a different direction, some place different.

Try music, music that helps just ease be it loud or relaxing music that will allow your mind as you let it wonder. maybe a lyric will inspire you, or the story you were working on will reignite it's spark.
