“You all must plan your stories out. You'll never finish it unless you know your ending. Plus, if you know where you want it to end, you can squeeze in that delicious foreshadowing so many authors use. It's a wonderful tool.
I refuse to go into a story not knowing where I want to take it. You never finish because you hit walls. Not planning your story out is the ONLY reason writer's block exists.”
It's not always true, I agree with Rashnae07
sometimes you have to just let go and write, and let the characters develop themselves. sometimes you don't finish and hit walls because you have it all planned out, so you're constrained to that idea of "perfection" and get stuck in the box when there you may have to step out of that idea for the story to continue. I do it all the time when I'm interview people. I have to be prepared to expect the unexpected. You can have a set of questions, but then the interviewee may say something that stumps you or throws you for a curve, you have to be prepared and open minded to continue a story because you never know what's out there besides what they may tell you. Just like with characters in a story, they may take you only so far, but you have to listen to them and ask questions about everything to see if it'll take you further, or in a different direction, some place different.
Try music, music that helps just ease be it loud or relaxing music that will allow your mind as you let it wonder. maybe a lyric will inspire you, or the story you were working on will reignite it's spark.
