i'm an anthropology student with a passion for history and linguistics. languages tell different stories and to be a storyteller is my dream. though i could say that i am a storyteller now, i hope that through my life i become better at it. i am a gigantic bookworm! if you're looking for something good to read, check out my livejournal (link is below)! books are what keep me going. they keep my eyes open to the possibilities that are waiting for me, inspire me to look beyond my little world, and remind me how important it is to pursue what brings me joy even if it's likely that i will fail. what's most important at the end is that i lived.
let's see, some other things about me:
1. i clean when i'm bored or procrastinating
2. most of what i read is either historical fiction or teen fiction
3. i'm learning spanish and mandarin; plus i'm thinking about learning french and american sign language. sometimes i also think of trying to learn egyptian arabic since i'm really interested in egyptology and want to either travel/study/or both in egypt one day. though egyptian arabic would probably only be conversationally, i don't know if i'd be able to get the hang of writing in arabic.
4. i'm not that musically diverse, i just listen to what i like
5. my journals look completely different when i'm done filling them up. i scrapbook the covers with ticket stubs and whatever catches my fancy
6. people go 1 of 2 ways concerning my writing: they either think my cursive looks amazing and artsy or they can't read a word of it
7. my favorite disney movies are the original animated ones
8. i'm sending positive energy into the universe to get accepted to my college of choice! fingers crossed-i got in!
9. i have too many clothes, shoes, and purses but i try to use them to look different than everyone around me
10. this year is going to be a good one. please pray for everyone that we all make it long enough to see how good it will be.
11. my favorite game ever is air hockey! i'm vicious when playing it and i love it!
12. my profile picture is a painting by renior that i found and critiqued for my intro to humanities class last spring. i just fell in love with it.
13. i am constantly wondering about my place in the world and what i am supposed to do. right now the classes i'm taking are really opening my eyes to what the world is and slowly i am starting to see what my part in it could be. it's an amazing journey and i am thankful everyday that i am able to experience it!
14. i'm planning on entering nanowrimo this november!
15. february 2nd is my personal epiphany day. if you'd like to know why, feel free to send me a message
16. i'm constantly changing and i embrace it. becoming a better person and growing as i go through life is very important for me.
17. i am one of those people that believes in 'work first, play later'. yeah, i want to have things in order before i have a good time. it works for me.
18. you know how when you were a kid you'd get a pair of shoes that were really cute and made you jump and giggle when you got them? well, i just found a pair of blue plaid boots that are the coolest thing ever! it's the little things in life that can make it beautiful. this week has been a crappy week so this really helped to perk me up!
19. do not read philosophy if you are not willing to think. in my college career so far i have been exposed to several different philosophies and all of them have opened and expanded my mind in many different ways. whether it's been buddhism, socrates, taoism, ayn rand, hinduism, and others they have pushed my mind farther towards enlightenment. here's one key thing i have noticed: many people do not ask straightforward questions. it's annoying.
20. morning mantra: "the day is new and the sun is bright".
21. here's a question b/c i'm a little annoyed: why can't anybody apply the phrase "you get what you give" when they send out requests to read their work? next time you send me a request why don't you comment on my work first?
22. i cannot believe a movie finally made me cry...
23. i'd like to learn to play chess
24. the big bang theory, bones, csi: ny, and numb3rs are my favorite tv shows ever
25. i read a lot of articles that give advice (such as "things every single person needs to do before settling down") because i like to have an idea of things before i try them. and sometimes i don't act with a lot of common sense so it's good to have some advice!
