about me

away for a week, miss you all!! :)

hi! until extremely recently, when i fell off the wagon and wrote my latest poem, i was on a mission to read all the jodi picoult books before i wrote anything new, so there's quite a gap between me writing a summer's walk through winter and all my previous pieces. i'd love for you to read any of them but i'm mainly looking for comments on my latest poem right now. anyhoo, i hope to get to know you, and i hope jodi picoult helps me a lot with my writing. thanks. x :)

-i love wearing wellies. if someone said to me "would you like to come hiking?" i'd probably do one of those screams like in horror movies that really goes through you, like nails down a black board, just at the thought of exercise. but, if someone said to me "would you like to come hiking with me? we can wear our wellies" i would be screaming with joy. i don't know what it is about them but i could wear them all day, i feel like a cyberman like off doctor who when i walk in them.
-oh yeah, i'm vegetarian (still eat fish though, i'm working on it).
-i'm left handed.
-i dream of becoming a conservationist or environmental journalist.
-i finally changed my profile pic from that hat that i've had up there for nearly a year. it's now some cuuuute baby chinchillas. i'd love to own a pair of chinchillas. it's one of my life goals.
-the websites below do in no way belong to me. i just think they're nice.

the evolution revolution:

i believe in honesty. i believe that i deserve to know the truth about my writings, even if that truth is ugly. and i believe that the truth is being repressed by people who are either too afraid to offend or who don't care enough to say it.

so here's my pledge. in all of my dealings with my fellow inkpoppers, i will do my best to be honest. this does not mean merciless slaughter of innocent poems and novels, this does not mean insta-picks for every short story that i read. this means that, what i read, i will comment on. what you do is up to you.

i promise to:
1. always read at least one chapter; thoroughly. no skimming, no once-overs. i will be an honest reader.
2. balance my comment with what i liked and didn't like. i will give an honest review that is as helpful and supportive as it can be.

THE REASON I WRITE

by fudgeface

Essay

The title says it all really! I promise it's genuine, of all the things I could have made up it wouldn't have been this :)

I hate grey, I hate grey, I hate grey,
OOH OOH,
I hate grey, I hate grey, I hate greeeeeeeeeeey,

I hate grey, I hate grey, I hate grey,
OOH OOH,
I hate grey, I hate grey, I hate GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

(Sadly, since this piece was born, Keith has moved on to cloudier pastures. He made it into 2010, just, and merely passed of old age. I'm leaving this piece up on here not particularly because it's one of my favourites, but in memory of his cuddly self. Please, feel free to comment as with my other pieces, but don't kill yourself over constructive crit, I'm not taking it all that seriously. Even more so than usual.)

Poem

His name's Ted. His bike's pink.

I was just watching the to-be-step-sis mucking round with her ted, Ted, on his flash motorbike he got for christmas and this sort of came out. It's my first poem on here and I'm quite proud of it so I'd appreciate anyone out there taking a look. Thanks!! x :)

Note: It's written from the perspective of Ted.

To jump or not to jump.

This baby's won me week seven of the WWC!! ^-^ I'm so proud of it, it's got me a free book, yay!!!! Anyhoo, the challenge was to write a piece inspired by a piece of music. I based this on the Radio1 live lounge cover of 'spiralling' (hence the name) done by the Sugababes. Enjoy. x :)

A Summer's Walk Through Winter...

by fudgeface

Poem

No matter how much you love summer, winter will always be waiting in the wings.

I'm one of those frustrating people that always wants sunshine in December, but is missing my winter coat by July. So, even though it's the middle of summer, I've written this in memory of the winter we've just had, and in anticipation of the winter that's yet to come. It follows someone taking a walk in the snow and I really hope you like it. Comments and critiques would be much appreciated, thanks. x :)
