about me

I've been writing since I was about eight years old. I write both poetry and nonfiction, although I am much better at poetry, in my opinion. At least, it comes much easier.

By the way I've decided i'm tired of those spam emails to read your work. I've come on this site for the same reason you have: to get comments and critque on my work. I will no longer respond to read me's if you haven't bothered to read my work and give it some honest feedback. I think that's fair (FYI this works the other way as well! )by the way.
i thought i should mention to anyone who comments on my work no matter if had to ask you. i will always keep track and return the favor.
Note: I have a soft spot for people who've read and commented on my work and said so in their message to me.

I've posted my book, however it's far from complete, so please bear with me. The Disappearance has been a work in progress for a long time, the subject of MANY months of writers block, and a joy to write.

As for my poetry, most of it is free verse, and if you want to understand it better, you can't break it down into LINES. So read it as you would a story, rather than a typical poem.

I love brutally honest people.
I am a dog lover/fanatic.
I am my own worse critic, as we all are. ;)
I love to read. I can't get enough.
I hate fakes and phony's.
I'm allergic to onions and b.s.
I'm a loyal friend, and yet, I have few. (more time to write!)

My dream has been to write for a living since I was very young. Maybe one day. If you comment, I will return the favor. I sincerely believe that READERS are what makes the book world turn, and who really speak to publishers.

Badge of Courage

Poem

A poem about breast cancer, surgery, and realizing what exactly body image means.

I wrote this after I almost died, and had emergency surgery that gave me a scar from my chest to my abdomen. While recovering from the surgery, dealing with the scar, I had to look at myself in a whole new light... And I discovered how.

Poem

Probably the way most people feel once in a while. This was written after I broke up with a guy I'd been with for years.

We all pin our hopes and dreams on some guy or girl eventually. It happened to me. And then when he broke up with me, I thought I would die.

Crazed Highway

Poem

A poem to describe my struggle with alcohol, and so many other things in my generation.

I saw the Aerosmith video, "Crying" and at the end a guy takes a dive off a bridge... I'm not sure if he was bungee jumping, or it was just a regular rope, either way, this is what came out. To understand it, you need to read it fast and disregard the normal parameters of poetry.

All of a Sudden You've Come Ba...

Poem

Relationships sometimes end in a way we don't expect...

My ex boyfriend broke up with me (same guy all the other break up poems are about, James) and then tried to get me back and I discovered, I didn't want him. To understand this poem, you'll need to forget about typical poetry, and read it quickly. When the lines end, that is not necessarily where the sentence ends.

Time, Distance

by peanut081981

Poem

A poem for my dad, who lived a state away after my parents divorced.

I hate to look back and think about when I was a child, because I miss being on my dads lap as a six year old, and listening to his stories, or drinking his famous root beer floats. This simply expresses that.

The Disappearance

by peanut081981

Book: General Nonfiction, Mystery

When Jacob and Abigail disappear, will their children be able to keep up the charade?

When the Blackstones disappear, their four children are left wondering what happened. As the summer comes to an end, they are forced to pretend nothing has changed in order to stay together. Will they make it? Or will the pressure of keeping quiet about their parents, and their feelings of loss force them to bring in the authorities? *I am still writing this, so please bear with me.*

When a Soldier Cries

by peanut081981

Poem

Soldiers are supposed to be rocks.

But soldiers are really just young men and women who are only adults in age. We don't really think about the mental affect this has on them, because they are TRAINED to be tough.

I Tribute The Soldiers

by peanut081981

Poem

This was my 9/11 poem. Most every one has one.

We saw so much selflessness when this happened. I wanted to capture it. It was also a time when, rightly so, most attention was on victims and their families. No one thought about the soldiers until later.

Time To Get Away

by peanut081981

Poem

Abuse is a crime.

And sometimes we as women are too scared to leave, and too scared to stay. We put ourselves in a place where it's okay. That's what I did. Until finally, I got out.
