Hey, I'm Kara! I'm pretty much just your typical 21-year-old, majoring in English and International Development Studies. I'm hoping to work for the UN or at a nonprofit organization one day, working on issues in developing countries, like women's rights and global poverty. My biggest dream, though, is to be a YA author. Writing is my passion; it's who I am. I love everything about it: the good, the bad, and the frustrating. I wrote my first story at 8 -- about a girl who's falsely accused of killing her best friend -- but, my earliest memory of "writing" is from when I was a toddler. When my mom would tell me bedtime stories, I'd stay up all night daydreaming up new adventures for her characters. Hmm, maybe that's why I'm such an insomniac now...
Some random things about me: I'm the only writer in a family full of artists (mostly sketchers, painters, photographers, and graphic designers). I'm a family girl -- my friends and family mean absolutely everything to me. I'm a chronic klutz -- I trip over my own feet, run into walls, fall down stairs, and about anything else you can imagine. 'Procrastinator' should be my middle name. Or maybe my first. I have an addiction to reading and shoes. I need a ten-step program for the shoes, but NEVER the reading. I love laughing and daydreaming. I'm determined to do all the things people say I can't do. The "impossible" things. Guess I'm just stubborn like that. I'm a shameless prankster. A quiet beach is Eden to me. I have a list of 25 Things to Do Before You're 25 (sort of like one of those Things to Do Before You Die lists), though the list is WAY over 25 now. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Italian food. I'm a gypsy-in-waiting -- I plan to travel the world someday. (Somehow WITHOUT an airplane. I'm terrified of flying!) I'm also cringing at all the sentences I just started with 'I'm,' lol. :-P
** Hey, everyone, I've been a bit busy lately, but I promise I'll get back to you with messages, projects, etc., as soon as I can. :-) **
