september 1, 2010 the big news is that i've signed with an agent and have had to take my books off of inkpop. but i'll keep this account open and keep reading and commenting on books. go inkpop! i'll always love it!
i owe some giant “thank yous” to the following people, who helped loving emily win its gold star in july:
to danakay, who messaged me on my first day at inkpop to say “you’re going to make the top 5, and until then, you’re on my pick list.” dana, you are one smart, dynamic cookie, and you will go far.
to maddie11, another true and early friend who started scorching forum threads for me and bumped them energetically. one of the sweetest people around and dang! she can write!
to peyton, the irrepressible retroplaid, who would do anything for loving emily and even held her breath for twenty-nine days. may you always be full of hilarity and joy!
to jake, aka jrvsmith, who gave up several days of his summer to return reads for me. now that’s a friend! thank you, thank you, jake, for being such an all-around great guy.
to andrew dennis doiron, who has praised my writing so generously and who wrote a comment for every single chapter of loving emily (count ‘em, folks, that’s thirty-eight comments!).
to spink, who has hung in from the beginning and who was the very first to read the entire loving emily on inkpop.
to mccrea by nature, the talented carrie mccrea, who suggested to me the fantastic cliffhanger ending for chapter two —“michael’s gone.”
to the following supporters, who started forum threads, mentioned me in forum threads, put me on their top five lists, quietly went around pushing my book, or otherwise did something wonderful that earned my gratitude:
evie j, diane_stiffler, nella-rosmarino, sunnytragix, elpheba355, lilmissmuffet, jesse di angelo, poading, ocean limbs, cue zebra, aikawarazu
to the hundred of wonderful inkpoppers who fell in love with my book and wrote the greatest comments…. i love you all.
to the many who thanked me for my comments and said they had found them helpful … may you all write and publish your dream book – soon!
to becki and erika, who were always nice and always responded to my periodic pleas for help.
finally, to harper collins, for creating inkpop and making this great opportunity available.
thank you!

1. i, anne pfeffer, promise to take time off of this site to remind myself of the love of writing and why i do it.
2. i, anne pfeffer, promise to remind myself that writing is fun, enjoyable and that i can write for the simple sake of writing.
3. i, anne pfeffer, promise to remember that everybody's story is different, whether it has cliche aspects or not, and that each story has it's own voice.
4. i, anne pfeffer, promise to remember that like myself, and my own writings, the story wouldn't be what it is today without the characters and events in it. and like myself, only writers can write the story they want to write, and not someone else.
5. in my critiques, i, anne pfeffer, promise to give suggestions that can possibly help make a character more relatable and round, and offer suggestions that might help them improve their work.
6. i, anne pfeffer, promise to post this on my profile, showing that i know writing is a passion, and as a writer, can understand that other writers know the above as well.
7. i, anne pfeffer, promise to remember that the love of writing is what brought me to this website, and it's this website that has helped inspire me and push my limits as a writer and to improve, but i will remember that sometimes.. a break is needed to recall that passion for writing.
