about me

ATTN: I have not really been to the site in a little while, but in a couple months I will become much MUCH more active (Graduation, whoot!). First off, it's my senior year in college with two degrees going, with an honors thesis in the works and a thesis film to make, not to mention my other courses.

FURTHERMORE, on February 6th, a guy I grew up with for 20 years, and who was my brother's best friend/brother by choice, he was killed in a plane crash and I have been dealing with that and helping others deal with that. So, there's a bit of a hole in the world, right now, and I am not sure how to fill it up, but with writing. So soon, when I graduate and can focus more on this stuff, you will see me be much more active reading your stories and writing and posting my own. But for now, I am a ghost. Write me a message and bring your story to my attention and once the summer comes I will do my best to read through them all!

I am a 22 year-old film production and critical studies student at some Uni somewhere. If the world were perfect, which it will be once I'm through with it, I will be a moderately successful screenwriter/director/animator/novelist.

I write a lot of short stories and used to write poetry, but I've only got a couple novels in the works I hope to post soon.

I'm currently in the negative when it comes to free time, but I aim to catch up on reading fun contemporary stuff here once I'm done with my thesis film, Honors thesis, and final semester of college in spring. So if I don't get back to you and your work until then, it's because I'm being academic, not because I dislike it ;). Read you soon!

His first step to letting her go is to drink a bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider.

He's got a graveyard of bottles growing in his backyard, one shattered for every girl he's ever had. And lost.

Still Burning

by Annibal

Poem

I want fireworks at my funeral.

Written in my freshman year of college, from emotions sprouting out of my older brother's accident involving Paragliding, about the enduring human spirit and the dreams for something more...eternal, while living in a world where everything is transient, ephemeral.

Back and Forth

Poem

In the park across the street...

Short, structured poem, though I can't for the life of me remember what the name of the structure was. About the repetitive lives we all lead, from children to adult. Can be sad, can be comforting.

Down the Way

Short Story: Adventure, General Fiction

Brandon's brother, Daniel, is dead. And now he's on the road with Daniel's best friends, saying goodbye.

This was written for a Creative Writing course. The weirdest thing about writing it was that I had done it right before my own brother ended up in a hospital, for 80 days, after an accident. Brandon's older brother, Daniel, dies from a freak brain aneurysm. Then Daniel's best friends, Aeron and Rust, take Brandon on a road trip out to lake Powell, as a way of saying goodbye. As with a lot of my writing, this is inspired by my own older brother, who is currently an active BASE jumper, adventurer, Paragliding pilot, etc. etc. He and his friends, in High school, would frequently disappear for days at a time, going all over the Western US, having adventures.

The Passenger

by Annibal

Short Story: Adventure, General Fiction, Mystery

His best friend has disappeared and there's a ghost haunting his passenger seat. Great.

Leslie's had some bad luck, not the least of which was his parents naming him a girl's name. His best friend, Ben, has disappeared, right after graduation, leaving him with the lemon of a car they'd bought together for the purpose of putting their hometown in Wisconsin in their rear view. Plus, he's got a freakin' ghost haunting his passenger seat. That's just great.

Suicidal Tendency

Short Story: General Fiction, Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy

Alison's death came as a surprise to her.

Alison wasn't trying to kill herself, she really wasn't. But the keepers of the afterlife don't see it that way. Now she has to prove she's not exactly where she's supposed to be. She shouldn't be dead, and she REALLY shouldn't be in Purgatory. NOTE: This story does contain mentions of suicide. I am no aiming to make light of it, nor condemn or celebrate it. I wish everyone were happy with their lives, and no one felt pushed to such an extreme. I wrote this in high school and revised it a couple years ago.

Look What Life Gave Us

Short Story: General Fiction, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Romance

Will Stoker watched the world end, alone, from the empty spaceport where she'd left him.

When the world went up in an inferno, Will Stoker was left to die, alone. He was left to wander, aimlessly, haunting a planet void of humanity.

Dead Beneath the Stars

by Annibal

Short Story: Horror

Vampires and a dark alley are never a good combination.

When running from vampires that are trying to kill you never: 1) Trip. 2) Try to hug them. 3) Fall in love with any of them. 4) Fall just short of safety. How depressing is that? This is a really short story about some kid who's just in the wrong place at the right time for him to become a tasty snack for everyone's favorite undead hematophagy practitioners.

Short Story: Horror, General Fiction, Paranormal

"You killed me," she said in his dreams.

Reese is just a runaway until he meets Mike, a drifter and hit-man, and when he accidentally kills a girl he has to be a runaway again--from his own mind, and conscience. I wrote this a few years ago, and it's horribly researched and implausible, but i am planning on rewriting it into a more "Supernatural meets the Professional" type thing, with Mike being a demon hunter. Or something. So any advice/comments/critiques are most welcomed!

My Mother Never

by Annibal

Short Story: Horror, Humor, General Fiction, Paranormal

My mother never taught me how to deal with all this. All these freakin' zombies, man.

A monologue I wrote from the prompt "My mother never..." in my screenwriting class as a dialogue exercise. It will also be a chapter in my novel "The undertakers" if I ever put it up here. It's about coming to terms with living in a zombie apocalypse that your parents never prepared you for.

Look Both Ways

Poem

"Why haunt me?" I asked my ghost.

About being haunted, and not knowing why.

Um, also the ghost's story is based on a true one. My dad's friend when he was in elementary school. They were going to meet up to play ball after school, but the friend never showed. Then they learned why. That story always kills me, I cry whenever I think about it.
