about me

*PLEASE do not ask me to read your works. Sorry!
Name: Ashurrii
Age: 21
Location: The Shadow Realm
Occupation: Part time writer, full time dreamer making pizzas on the side

Words are my alias, my cloak that I hide behind, as we all do in the world of writers. The pen is my catalyst and I use it to jot those triggers that evoke the emotion and stir the thoughts. At least, I like to think that way, but sometimes, what I write is just as fluffy as the cotton candy I eat. But it’s nice to have something fluffy to chew on now and then, yeah?

I consider myself a writer, but then, I consider anyone who puts thought into the words they write the such. Spilling your guts, your soul, your thoughts and ideas onto the blank canvas is a great feat and anyone who’s willing to put time, effort, and solid attempt is a writer. That’s our job – to get our words out there and let them be known, whether you’re writing newspaper, other non-fiction, poetry, short stories, or novels. We’re here to change the world, one thought at a time, even if it’s just to get someone to think about a concept.

I write of many things but right now, my main focus lies with that bountiful state of being and the emotions that come with. I also have poetry. Feel free to comment, I encourage it, because it lets me know what readers think. Also, reviewing is nice – not just a comment, but an actual review.
My biggest project that I've been working on as of late is a novel I've tentatively entitled Shadow Guardians (and have later learned of a Twilight fic of the same name ;___; Guh) The story is filled of a cast of teenagers who have killed themselves and are punished by an eternal enlistment in the Shadow Guardians. The book is rather angsty, but I'm a bit crazy about the characters and the emotions. Currently, it is a work in progress. Please read! <3

Without touch or sight, only words that lulled them to sleep, he drew her to him and, unwillingly, she allowed herself to be pulled closer.

Without touch or sight, only words that lulled them to sleep at night, he drew her to him and, unwillingly, she allowed herself to be pulled closer. But a matter of words, of secrets, of truths spilled in the dead of the night was enough to prompt a love that ran deeper than anything they'd ever known before. While neither was ready to admit it, neither strong enough to face the truth, they hid in their own world, woven of words and sweet secrets,.

Shadow Guardians : The Damned

by Ashurrii

Book: General Fiction, Paranormal, Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy

Redemption does not come easily and hands tainted red with murder do not wash away.

When she killed herself, Georgie expected to wake in the fiery depths of Hell. Perhaps Hades. All she knew was that she was doomed to certain damnation. Upon waking, she found the stories that we've been told were skewed.

The Shadow Realm is home to those who have taken their own lives. Their jobs are to bridge the gap between the living world and the after world, either by way of taking or saving souls. How does one save a life, though, when she couldn't even save her own? Can redemption be found for those who committed the greatest sin of all?

With a sadistic, sarcastic spewing partner, an eclectic gaggle of amazing friends and a little bit of confidence, Georgie must find peace and forgiveness before she can ever expect to survive. Does love and friendship prevail after death? Can one forgive themselves for their tainted hands? How does one take a soul without feeling like a villain? If she can’t overcome it all, an even worse fate will be found.

“To survive a job like this, one must have strength. Clearly, an oxy-moron hides behind this wisdom, because those who are truly strong never make their way here”

Forever We Will Be, You and Me...

by Ashurrii

Short Story: Romance, General Fiction

I know whom he’s closest to, though, and I am aware that I am not one of them.

A sad smile forms on my face, but I know very well that he sees right through it. I wish I could see through it, because the truth is, he causes me heartache daily. Hourly, in some cases, and I’m the fool who’s heart still rests at his feet. He doesn’t even know! How does he not notice my heart, sitting on the line and waiting for him? Does he not pay attention to all the little details? Whenever I see him, I make a point to speak to him, to chatter idly and say whatever I can to find his smile. If he is down and visibly upset, be it anger, sadness, or having a bad day, I make my way to him to say and do whatever I need to cheer him up. As the case is, he is probably oblivious to the fact that, on days that I know I will for sure see him, I do all my best to look extra cute, in vain efforts to be noticed by him. Yes. I am unworthy of his excess time and interests.

Starry Night Baby

by Ashurrii

Poem

It’s still there, I promise you, Deep within your soul

Sometimes, failure leads to revelation, and from revelation blossoms truth. The starry night will guide you back where you belong and you'll find comfort in each others' curve, the way your bodies mold together, as if you were meant to be. Maybe, just maybe, Destiny knows what she's doing, continuing to bring you back to one and other.

Selfish

by Ashurrii

Poem

Sometimes, we are too blind to see the real beauty in front of us.

Maybe, we're looking for the wrong one. Perhaps our ideals are skewed and misconstrued. Perhaps, what we really want has been there all along. This is for everyone who waited patiently. Whose heart ached for what they couldn't have, who yearned for someone who was too blind to see. This is to everyone who was too selfish to share, to open up their eyes.

Skeptics and True Believers

by Ashurrii

Short Story: General Fiction, Romance, Humor

Disney over-romanticized the truth about love, and we crave for something so skewed in our eyes.

He is one of those arty boys who lives in the cafés with his coffee and green tea, attending poetry readings with his pin-back-button-covered messenger bag, flipping his prettier-than-hers hair out of his eyes and snapping instead of clapping. He is the boy who never fails to correct her when she’s wrong and always makes a fuss about her pop culture obsession and her always painted nails, the designer jeans she sometimes buys and her “obscene” and “bulky” bags. They are polar opposites held together by bonds and years and crazy monkey glue.

There Was Snow

by Ashurrii

Short Story: Romance, General Fiction

It couldn't be magic; you still made me ache with hollow nostalgia and reminded me how I needed you.

It was the kind of magical snow that I always imagined but only saw on television. It gave false hope to a magical night, especially because you were there. It couldn't be magic; you still made me ache with hollow nostalgia and reminded me how I needed you. Of acceptance and moving on. Of hopes and yearning. Of love and friendship. Of you and me.

Backwards Compatibility

by Ashurrii

Book: General Fiction, Romance, Humor

What if I wake up and I’m still awkward and lame? I wish I could turn off my emotions. I wish I had confidence.

Crickette’s entire life has been a bit of an identity crisis: she’s trying to figure out how to be the perfect daughter, she’s striving to be a great friend, she wants to be a better person, and she would love to be a better her. That is, if she knew who she was.

Chance just wants to have fun his last semester of school and get through it without difficulty. He’s ready for something new, to shed the skin of who he hates to be.

When a fateful, introspective class projects throws these unlikely two together, Crickette is certain she is doomed too awkward embarrassment over her shameful lack of self and her backwards compatibility with people. Instead, she finds, perhaps, a new friend?

For Crickette, it is a key to unlocking who she wants to be, and who she really is.

For Chance, it’s the possibility to break out of his shell.

But for both of them, it’s a new perspective and life’s little lessons on relationships, love, friendship, and being true to oneself.
