Are you a vampire writer sick of all the negative "Twilight" Backlash? Do you want to show readers that not all vampires sparkle? Is there just a vampire itch you have to scratch?

Then buddy, do I have a challenge for you!

On July 18th the Weekly Writer's Challenge launches 14th week with a vampire themed challenge. The "Give a Vamp a Chance" Challenge, is YOUR chance to show people that S. Meyer's human friendly sparkle-pires aren't the only way to go! Rise up to the challenge and prove that the vampire genre is "dead" yet!

Think you're sneaky, think you're sly? If you think you're smart enough not to get "caught in the act" take a look at http://www.inkpop.com/forums/threads/19925/wwc-wk13-caught-in-the-act/. WWC Week 13 ends on Tuesday July 13th so stop snooping and start writing. ;)

Question - you said:

"the real kind. like, Dracula, like The little Vampire. VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE! Vampires die in sunlight, vampires can't stand crosses, vampires sleep in coffins, vampires die with a stake through their heart, and most of all VAMPIRES DRINK BLOOD!!
Edward Cullen is an emotionally abusing pervert. He is not a vampire. He's Stephanie Meyers wet dream. (Sorry to Twilight fans, but meh)."
Awesome usage of the word "meh" by the way. =)
But, what about this:

Dracula wasn't afraid of sunlight, he didn't die from a stake in the heart, he wasn't repelled by crosses, and he actually didn't sleep in a coffin. And of course, he also fed from animals and was an emotionally abusive pervert.

And Lestat sparkled, and he's supposed to be a vampire icon. He didn't glitter like diamonds, but he sparkled. And if you want to talk about emotionally abusive perverts, he made a little girl who wasn't even 8 years old into a vampire.

Then there's D from Vampire Hunter D, and the vampires in that universe who also sparkle, and don't have fangs.

All of which came out before Twilight and have a huge following. Apparently vampires DO sparkle sometimes.

Edit: Also, many of the vampires in Amelia Atwater Rhodes' vampire novels feed off of animals, as does Stephen in the Vampire Diaries, as did Louis in Interview with the Vampire, and as does Stefan in the movie Subspecies. And Stefan isn't repelled by crosses or sleep in a coffin. And his brother, Radu, can't be killed by a stake to the heart or crosses or anything like that. They had to rip off his head and set him on fire.

Traveling through time from the Ice Age to the 25th century, Nick and the Chronomech strive to undo the rogues' actions and correct the Timeline.
